CLIMATE
Da Nang is located in the tropical climate and monsoon region with high temperatures but less variability. Two distinct seasons are: dry season (from January to July) and rainy season (from August to December), occasional winter frosts but not bold and not stretched. The average annual temperature is about 26oC and air humidity is 83.4%.

GETTING AROUND/TRANSPORTATION
The centre of Da Nang is fairly compact, you will find that they can easily walk to many places. Taxis provide a comfortable way to get around the city. Taxis operate 24 hours daily. They can be flagged from hotels, taxi stands and most main streets. Taxi fares are charged by the meter, calculated based on the distance travelled.

MOBILE COMMUNICATION
There are three main telecommunication providers in Vietnam: Viettel, Vinaphone, Mobifone. All three operators offer prepaid SIM cards which you can buy in stores, supermarkets, as well as at the airport. You can buy a SIM card by showing your passport; your telephone number is already active the moment you purchase. To add credit, use vouchers stocked in stores or online payment.

Da Nang restaurants range from decades-old local joints, roadside stalls and street markets to expat-owned eateries, beachfront cafes, and refined establishments set within luxurious beach resorts. La Maison 1888

Com Nieu Nha Do

Com Nieu Nha Do’s speciality is the lemongrass-flavoured rice served in a claypot that can be paired with a variety of side dishes. A ten-minute walk from Da Nang International Airport, the restaurant is popular for family dinners as portions are meant to be shared between three people or more. Priced at VND 100,000 onwards, highly recommended dishes at Com Nieu Nha Do include braised fish, eggplants with shrimp paste, stir-fried beef slices, and BBQ chicken with honey.

Bushido Restaurant

Da Nang Bushido Restaurant Da Nang has gained massive popularity for its extensive selection of authentic Japanese and Korean dishes. Located in Da Nang City Centre, the three-storey restaurant has five private rooms with unique samurai-themed décor as well as a breezy balcony area overlooking the Han River. Food-wise, you can enjoy a wide array of imported BBQ meats, sashimi, sushi, sukiyaki, and fresh seafood caught from Da Nang. Must-try dishes at Bushido Restaurant Da Nang include the BBQ salted beef tongue (VND 88,000), squid sashimi (VND 150,000), and pork shabu-shabu (VND 380,000). An excellent selection of sakes are available by the glass and bottle, though diners can opt for the kiki-zake to enjoy three variants for VND 170,000 onwards.

Lam Vien Restaurant

Lam Vien Restaurant occupies a two-storey bungalow that overlooks a serene pond and plenty of greenery, making it a popular option for intimate dinners with loved ones. Expect traditional Vietnamese and pan-Asian delicacies such as spring rolls, abalone with crabmeat soup, stir-fried bok choy with oyster sauce, fried beef luc lac (Vietnamese shaking beef), and fried lobster with orange sauce. Drinks-wise, the restaurant serves a selection of imported wines, beers, and soft drinks. Head to the upstairs wooden terrace for the best view in Lam Vien Restaurant, but you are required to remove your shoes beforehand.

Han Market

Han Market is a significant landmark in Da Nang, having been in operation since the French occupancy in the 1940s. Set within the grand intersection of Tran Phu Street, Bach Dang Street, Hung Vuong Street and Tran Hung Dao Street, this local market hosts hundreds of stalls selling an array of local produce, handicrafts, T-shirts, and accessories. Set in front of Han Market are fruit stalls where you can purchase tropical fruits such as bananas, mangoes, durian, and jackfruit. Ideal as souvenirs for loved ones back home, make sure you stock up on prepacked chilli paste, Ly Son garlic, rice crackers, and dried squid.

Con Market

Con Market is home to over 2,000 stalls, making it the largest (and busiest) wholesale shopping venue in Da Nang. Also known as Da Nang Commercial Centre, you can find fresh produce, dried goods, coffee beans and plenty of food stalls on the ground floor while the upper level hosts handicrafts and tee shirts vendors as well as tailor services. As with any market in Vietnam, haggling is encouraged here where you can bargain up to 50% off the retail prices. Set along Ong Ich Khiem Street, Con Market is just across the street of Vinh Trung Plaza.

Lotte Mart Da Nang

Lotte Mart Da Nang is one of the coastal town’s largest shopping malls, offering ample entertainment, shopping, and dining opportunities for locals and travellers alike. The five-storey complex features an extensive collection of cosmetics, electrical and household appliances, apparel, accessories, and shoes from popular international brands such as Samsung, Levi’s, Nike, Magoza, Debor, Sense, Josephi, and The Face Shop. A massive supermarket is located on the fourth floor while the top level hosts a bowling alley, arcade centre, and skating rink for the little ones. Located in Nai Nam Street, Lotte Mart Da Nang is accessible within a ten-minute taxi ride from Da Nang International Airport.
